Scope and Contents

Stotts relates his experiences joining the army at St. Louis in 1866 and traveling over the plains to Fort Lyon, Colo. He describes killing buffalo, an Indian village, Ft. Dodge and Buffalo Bill, Bent's Fort, flooding of Ft. Lyon and the construction of New Ft. Lyon, the Indian wars including comments on Custer and the death of Black Kettle.
