This is a collection of 20 letters, dated 1771-1777, from Lady Mary Holland (ca 1746-1778), wife of Stephen Fox, to Françoise Payne (lLater Lady Lavington), wife of the governor of the Leeward Islands. They consist of social and domestic news from one politician's wife to another.
These are miscellaneous 18th-century English letters collected by the historian Herbert George Guttridge (1898-1969). Correspondents include Richard Burke, Juliana Burke French, Mary Cecilia French Haviland, Andrew Crosbie, Catherine Macaulay, the Earl of Buchan, Mrs. Houblon Newton, Luck Kent, the Duke of Richmond, Lord Berkeley, the Duke of Wharton, Lady Jane Holt, etc.

This collection includes an autobiography (1793-1794) by David Erskine, 11th earl of Buchan (1742-1829) and allied manuscript material about the electoral reform movement in Scotland and Yorkshire, as well as printed minutes, etc. of Scottish and Yorkshire reform committees (1782-1783). Also present are a few letters to Erskine from Christopher Wyvill (of Hartlepool) and Norman Macleod (1754-1801).
