Personal papers of Mary A. Grant

Mary Grant was an associate professor of Latin and Greek at the University of Kansas. She joined the KU faculty in 1921 and retired in 1960, and inducted into the KU Women's Hall of Fame. Mary Grant's personal papers include poems, both published and unpublished, written by Grant herself, along with a few miscellaneous items. Also included is a cassette tape of the Service of Commemoration for Mary A. Grant.

Richard Rhodes, born in Kansas City, Kansas, is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author whose many books and articles reflect his wide ranging subject interests. In these papers are manuscripts of his writings, copies of his many published works, related correspondence, some personal material and photographs, and the author's extensive research files, containing more than one hundred audio tapes of interviews that he conducted.

Overview This manuscript account book was apparently kept by the steward of a monastic house belonging to the religious order of the Ospitaliere di Santo Spirito. The entries for the purchase and sale of lambs, lambskins, pigeons, timber and grain are dated 1645-1650 and establish the location as the Puglia region of Italy.
