William P. Harrison letters and a letter from Henry Bigge

Scope and Contents

Five of the letters-, dated 1861-62, are from Harrison to his sisters, one of whom was Anna Louisa Harrison, later Mrs. M. M. Green. The sixth letter, dated 1890, is from Henry Bigge to Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Green, his wife's parents. Envelope addressed to Mrs. M. M. Green used as container for Harrison's letters is included.

William Thomas Arnold letter

Overview

William Thomas Arnold (1852-1904), born in Hobart, Tasmania, was a journalist and author. After graduating from Oxford University in 1876, Arnold began a 20-year career with the Manchester Guardian. This letter, written to an unidentified recipient, concerns the publication of a book by Lujo Brenato and Arnold's recommendation that his wife translate it from German to English.

William Whites Graves papers

The papers of St. Paul, Kansas newspaper editor and historian William Whites Graves contain research files from which he authored books concerning the history of the Catholic Church in early Kansas, including the history of Osage Mission (which later became the community of St. Paul), the Kickapoo Indians, and the Greenbush Parish of Crawford County, Kansas. Included are Graves' correspondence files, which include family correspondence, memorabilia, and photographs.
