Biography
William R. Tillmon, Sr. was born August 24, 1909, in St. Louis, Missouri and grew up in Kansas City. After earning his MA in History from the University of Kansas, Mr. Tillmon became a teacher and administrator for the Kansas City School District, retiring in 1974 from his position as Vice Principal of Paseo High School. Mr. Tillmon was an activist, community leader, decorated member of the Improved Beneveloent Protective Order of the Elks of the World (I.B.P.O.E. of W.), and an active member of his church. Mr. Tillmon died June 28, 1993.
