Biography

First Baron North. Son of Roger North (died 1509), merchant and haberdasher, and Christian (or Christiana), daughter of Richard Warcup. Brother to Joan North (died 1556), religious Protestant radical who served in Anne Boleyn’s household. In 1528 married Alice (died 1560), daughter of Oliver Squire; and later married Margaret (died 1575), daughter of Richard Butler. Father to Roger North (1531-1600), Second Baron North. Edward North purchased Kirtling Manor in 1553.
