Biography

8th Baron North, 2nd Earl of Guilford, and 4th Baron Guilford (known as Lord North); politician, prime minister 1770-1782. Son of Francis (1704-1790), 3rd Baron Guilford, 1st Earl of Guilford and 7th Baron North and Lucy, daughter of George Montagu[e?] who married in June 1728. In May 1756 he married Anne (1739-1797), daughter of George Speke. Father of George Augustus North (1757-1802), 3rd Earl of Guilford, 5th Baron Guilford and 9th Baron North; Catherine (1760-1817); Francis (1761-1817) 4th Earl of Guilford, 6th Baron Guilford; Frederick (1766-1827) 5th Earl of Guilford, 7th Baron Guilford; Charlotte (died 1849); and Anne (died 1832).
