Elfriede Fischer Rowe was a well-known authority on Lawrence, Kansas history and active in many community and civic endeavors. This collection includes personal mementos from when she was a student and alumna of the University of Kansas, information regarding World War II rationing and Mrs. Rowe's work with the Hercules Power Company during the war, as well as historical information about Lawrence, Kansas and personal and family papers.

This collection consists of correspondence and papers written by and about Karl White. The correspondence refers to an article that appeared in the Lawrence Journal World, December 19, 1964, entitled "Lots of Fun in Those Good Old Days" by Elfriede Fischer Rowe. In his letters to Mrs. Rowe, White recalls his boyhood and college days in Lawrence, Kansas.

Rowe attended the University of Kansas from 1903-1908. This collection consists of her music and recital programs from that time period.
