Dyer, Daniel B.
Biography
Daniel Dyer served in the Confederate Army under General Sterling Price during the U.S. Civil War. After the war he was involved with various U.S. Department of the Interior Indian Service agencies. He was the agent at the Quapaw Indian Agency from 1881-1884. He was a trader at the Cheyenne and Arapaho Agency in Darlington, Indian Territory (I.T., later Oklahoma), also serving as agent with that agency starting in 1884.

Samuel Johnson Crawford papers
The papers in the collection concern negotiations for settlement of a land sale in Oklahoma Territory for the Cheyenne and Arapaho. Crawford, along with Matt G. Reynolds of St. Louis, D. B. Dyer of Kansas City, and John D. Miles of Oklahoma, served as attorneys employed to prosecute a suit for the land by the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes. The correspondence is primarily between the four attorneys concerning their actions on behalf of the two tribes.
