Proclamation files
Scope and Contents
The proclamation files contain a wide range of pronouncements in support of clubs, societies, professions, education, charitable groups, etc., who sought the aid of the governor's office in advertising their mission or success. Often, the proclamation established a certain day, week or month as this group's, and entreats all Kansans to observe and take note of the fact. These proclamations form a body of more general support and public relations and are helpful to understand the number of groups who contact the governor with special requests.
The proclamations are arranged alphabetically by group or organization title of the soliciting entity, and are all listed in the inventory. Often Governor Bennett retained copies of Governor Docking's proclamations in order to repeat some of them through the year. Other support papers and soliciting correspondences from constituents are listed at the end of the alphabetical proclamations.
