This series includes records related to Hamburg's research and scholarly writing and presentations at conferences. The series also includes information related to Hamburg's research sabbaticals and to grant applications she made. Records include research notes, manuscript drafts and other materials from the writing process, presentation notes and copies of lectures, reference material, correspondence, and other materials related to Hamburg's research into movement, particularly movement for athletes, dancers, individuals with Parkinson's Disease, and skydiving.

Presentations given at non-academic conferences, such as the Kansas Governor's Conference on Aging, as well as presentations and workshops given in other venues (such as the OSHER Lifelong Learning Institute) have typically been placed in the Service series, rather than in this series, but there may be some overlap between the two.
