On January 4, Davis writes of discharging, and on January 8 writes that he has gotten his walking papers. Many of his entries are about various odd repair jobs that he does. He documents the number of hours he works meticulously. On May 13, Davis writes of a murder in Byfield, in which the murderer killed his own mother and tried to kill the whole family but was arrested. On May 21, Davis writes of seeing the Byfield murderer in police court.
He ends this year with between 50 and 60 dollars, no debts, and prospects of work all winter.
