Took care of Mr Adolphe Schlagintweit et al on their way to Madras as you and Mr Gould requested. Gave them my Geology of Bombay and my Summary of Indian Geology. Our Museum. Lord Elphinstone. Forwarded Gould's beautiful works on the Himalayan birds to his son. Have been packing articles sent to the East India House for the Paris Exhibition. Death and character of Stocks. Have had little leisure to work with Sponges: lec tuning; official duties; hundreds of sketches, etc., on Freshwater Algae. Sponge cells dry for 9 years still alive. Sending you paper on the gonidia [details]. If not suitable for Royal Society, would you get it in the Annals? Suffering from fever. Working on reproduction of algae and diatoms. Please tell me what you think of the paper. A year from now I'll be home.
