From the Spanish of Calderon. In the metre of the original. Draft translation of a play on the Peruvian Conquistadores (La aurora en Copacabana), "begun November 10, 1876." Page 161: "The remainder of the drama is continued on separate slips...the translation was finished at long intervals on December 1, 1879. The slips are tied up with this book [no slips now present] DFMC." "The remainder of the translation closely written on separate sheets in my iron despatch box." "The whole...transcribed with some alterations ... in 2 quarto MSS books. Finished transcription July 19th 1890. J.M.C." [perhaps his son John?]
Includes 10 pages of footnotes added by JMC and 6 pages of stray notes at the end of the volume. Written in London?
