Pemberton family materials, circa 1860s - 1976

 Series

Scope and Contents

This series includes photographs, family histories, newspaper clippings and magazine articles, correspondence, advertisements, and other related materials regarding Brock Pemberton, Murdock's brother, and his wife Margaret; Murdock's children; and ancestors in the Pemberton and Murdock family lines. There is also some historical information about Emporia, Kansas, where Murdock and Brock Pemberton grew up.

The series includes both original items and photocopies, as well as annotations and relevant reference material gathered by Sally Pemberton while conducting her research. Much of the physical arrangement of the material in this series stems from Sally Pemberton's organization; folder titles frequently reflect how she described the material found within.

Oversize material, mostly consisting of articles about family members or from the Emporia Gazette, has been separated from the main collection and is described at the end of this series.
