This file contains a compilation of photocopied army pension documents, widow’s pension documents, and death certificates for Joseph W. Simpson, Jr. and his wife Melinda Hughes Simpson, along with a letter named “Angels of Freedom” describing Joseph’s personality and habits with attached photographs of their 3 sons and Melinda. The letter also gives a little information about Joseph’s grandfather Patrick Simpson, who died in 1910 at the age of 104. Some of the photocopies are severely faded and almost illegible. Joseph, Jr. was the father of Anabelle Simpson Proctor and the grandfather of Linda S. Mata, the donor of this collection.
