The bulk of this collection, this series includes copies of primary source materials, notes, manuscripts and drafts, writings from other scholars and authors, and other materials related to Hemenway's research into Zora Neale Hurston, African American literature more generally, and other topics in which Hemenway was interested. This includes Early Republic author Charles Brockden Brown, the subject of Hemenway's doctoral dissertation.
