Topical files, 1977 - 2013
Scope and Contents
This series contains background papers and correspondence associated with producing the monthly Liberty Press editions, but not associated necessarily with any individual month's copy; as well as materials of personal interest to Kristi Parker. Parker and her partner, Sharon "Vinnie" Levin, took a broad interest in local culture from rodeos to music concerts, drag shows, and Gay Pride Parades. They were also a part of political efforts to secure equal rights for those with alternative lifestyles.
The cartoon files include "Hothead Paisan" by Diane DiMassa, "Dykesville" by Tami Friday, "Biff 'N Bunky" by Keith N. Anderson, "Such is Life" by Earl Storm, "Chelsea Boys" by Glen Hanson and Allan Neuwirth, and "Dykes to Watch Out For" by Alison Bechdel. The files also include "Tell Trinity," an advice column, and "Minor Details," a column by University of Kansas Professor of Religious Studies Robert N. Minor.
The Liberty Press conducted periodic online polls of its readers and the results of those polls are stored in this series. The last box at this location holds books and a small box full of various business cards.
