Scope and Contents
This series includes statements, invoices, and receipts for equipment, supplies, and materials purchased at Lawrence, Kansas-based businesses and other businesses in Kansas; financial accountings, including bank statements and directions for payments; inventories, including of stock and grain on farms owned by Howard; correspondence; legal documents, including deeds and mortgages, wills and estate administration documentation, and contracts and indentures; and life insurance policies for William Cyrus and brother A. S. Howard. Most of the records pertain to William Cyrus Howard's farming and land dealings in Kansas, but there are also some materials related to the elder Howards' and to Howard's business dealings in Ripley, Ohio.
