Official diaries and apointment books located at RH MS E115
Scope and Contents
The volumes at this location mostly consist of typed official diaries maintained by Woodring or his staff while he was in Washington D.C. as Assistant and Secretary of War. Also at this location is an address book, apparently of contacts for Woodring's War Office work, and what appears to be an incomplete scrapbook, in poor condition, regarding the deaths in 1936 and 1939 of both the Secretary of War and the Secretary of the Navy.
Official typed diaries generally provide a little more information about Woodring's activities--names of individuals and their positions, where he met them, etc. These may also include some personal information he noted down. Handwritten diaries are generally simple appointment books. The name indexes to daily appointments typically provide also the day(s) Woodring met with those indivdiuals.
