The Grant Club was organized prior to the 1868 Republican Convention in Chicago and was created in favor of Reconstruction and support of the Republican Party.

The Cyclone Club was formed in 1884 to participate in street parades, perform escort duty, and otherwise promote the interests of the Republican Party.
