Service
Scope and Contents
This series consists of agendas and meeting minutes, reports, correspondence, lectures and speeches, and other materials related to Stansifer's professional service, both to the University of Kansas and with other organizations. Stansifer worked extensively with off campus entities, both in Kansas and in Central and South America.
Material in this series reflects Stansifer's role as Chair of the History Department and Directer of the Center for Latin American Studies, as well as his involvement generally in KU's study abroad programs. It also includes records related to serving on election monitoring commissions in Nicaragua late in his career.
This series also includes copies of speeches and other materials Stansifer gave to a wide range of audiences as a member of the Westerners, a lecture/social group, especially during the national discussions related to the Panama Canal Treaties during the Carter Administration.
