Fannie Tapper was a close friend of Jane Malin. They met while working at the University of Houston Department of French. Tapper started a career as a photographer in the 1980s. She mailed Malin her artistic photographs as well as photographs of Malin. Most of Tapper's artistic photographs are of contemporary life and life stages observed by her.
