Robert D. Voth was the son of Emma Unruh Voth and Waldo Voth. Born in 1950, Robert graduated from Goessel High School in Goessel, Kansas in 1968.

He attended Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas, graduating in 1972. He became involved in the Voluntary Service unit, a program of helping communities through volunteering arranged by the General Conference Mennonite Church. He was the director at the Carroll Addition Community Center near Urbana, Indiana.

Later in life he settled in Lawrence, Kansas and worked in real estate. He passed away circa 2012.
