Helena Banman, daughter of H. and Helena Banman, was born in South Russia in 1870. In 1891, she married Abraham (A.) H. Schmidt, also born in South Russia in 1865 or 1866. They both had immigrated to Kansas with their families in 1874 and married in 1886. They had four children: Katherine (who died in infancy), Helena, Henry and Selma. They lived in Aberdeen, Idaho and Salem, Oregon. Helena died in 1941, Abraham in 1946. These folders include correspondence to Helena's brother Frank H. Banman when they lived in Salem and Aberdeen.
