Bertha Unruh was the daughter of David P. and Justina Unruh, born in 1890. She married Peter (P. P.) Unruh in 1918. They had five children, three dying in infancy. She was involved with helping her husband in his custodian position at the Goessel High School. She died in 1980 at the Goessel hospital.
