Subjects: Ten cartes de visite of the Short family. Includes Harold Catlin Short, whose father and brother (Oliver Francis and Daniel Truman Short) were killed in a 1874 massacre in Meade County, Kansas. Harold Short was the Leavenworth County commissioner and abstractor. Also includes his grandfather, Reverend Daniel Short from Illinois, an anti-slavery democrat (period inscription on verso: "To (undecipherable) from his bro(ther?) Fletch"); brother Leonard Spurgeon Short; nephew Oliver Francis Short, Junior; an unidentified child (possibly Harold Catlin Short?); man identified as "Uncle Bill;" and woman ("Mrs. Weber/ Alice Keller's mother).
