Dates
- Creation: 1866 - 1900
General
This scrapbook was compiled by Andrew J. Haynes roughly between the years of 1866 and 1900. Printed newspaper articles have been pasted over Haynes's personal and business financial accounts. Several pages of accounts have been left uncovered in the middle of the volume. The newspaper clippings include articles relating to Reconstruction-era politics, including the impeachment of Andrew Johnson, proverbs, poetry, African American suffrage, women's suffrage, health, and other odd news stories. The final pages of the scrapbook include newspaper clippings showing national and Saline County election returns spanning 1882 to 1900.
A handwritten title on the front cover of the scrapbook reads, "Scrapbook by A. J. Haynes."
