Dates
- Creation: 1874 - 1899
General
This scrapbook was compiled by Andrew J. Haynes roughly between the years of 1874 and 1899. Printed newspaper articles have been pasted over Haynes's personal and business financial accounts. The newspaper clippings include articles relating to education, marriage, women, health, British politics, poetry, weather statistics, taxes, election returns, and religion. Several newspaper clippings include letters to the editor sent in by Haynes signed either as 'A. J. Haynes' or as 'Junius'. These articles concern gubernatorial elections, Saline corn stock, schools, and education.
A page torn from a printed volume showing a portrait of Mr. John R. Mott has been inserted into page 39.
It is not clear from which publications the newspaper clippings have been collected, nor are the precise dates of publication apparent.
