Correspondence
Scope and Contents
Letters sent to Tom Clark in his role as poetry editor for the Paris Review. Topics from the writers are both professional and personal, including discussions of mutual acquaintances in the literary world, travel, other publications in which the authors are involved, issues with editors and publishers, and admiration for Clark's magazine and his own writings.
Several letters focus on contributions the writers have made to the Paris Review, or are in response to solicitations from Clark for contributions. At times correspondents are suggesting other writers Clark can contact for contributions.
Most letters are typed, sometimes with handwritten additions or postscripts; some letters are entirely handwritten. [Some or several?] folders in this series include poetry or short story manuscripts by the writers in addition to correspondence; these items have remained with the correspondence rather than being removed to the Typescript Poems series and have been noted in the description.
Arrangement
