Commissions issued by the East India Company, 1806 - 1858
Scope and Contents
East India Company commissions of three sorts: six are issued by the Governor or other arm of the Company; 10 are issued by the commander of the King's Army in the East Indies, to hold a rank equivalent to the rank held in the Company only so long as the officer remains in the Company's service, and only in the East Indies; two combine these functions.
