Letter from Sir John Malcom (1769-1833) to "My Dear Metcalfe," East India Company diplomat, reporting informally on military and political progress. Topics include a report from the besiegers of Asirgarh, where Appa Sahib has taken refuge; plans of attack; "Doveton is very sensible of the alacrity" of the reinforcements; "I shall write to Lord Hastings...that there is nothing...to impede ... this last effort to complete the tranquility of India."
