Scope and Contents

Charles Stough was executive director of the Kansas American Revolution Bicentennial Commission and involved in the Douglas County Bicentennial Commission, both formed to organize celebrations surrounding the American Bicentennial of 1976. Records include agendas and meeting minutes for the local Douglas Couty Bicentennial Commission, planning documents and resources from the state and national commissions, correspondence, newspaper clippings, lists of chairpersons for all the Bicentennial Commissions in Kansas, and other records related to local planning and coordinating with larger state and national planning efforts. Some material related to this topic came in the original donation from Stough and is located at RH MS 894, some in the donation via the Douglas County Historical Society and is located at RH MS 1486.
