Includes information about Phi Beta Sigma during Davis's time as a member of the fraternity, including photocopies of member photos, member lists, obituaries and biographies of other fraternity members, as well as photocopies of letters from Davis to Carol Oukrop about his time in Phi Beta Sigma at Kansas State University (KSU). Also includes a short biography and chronology of Davis, correspondence between Tidwell and Beth Charlton about Davis's writing in the Honolulu Record, a transcript of a 1984 interview with Davis conducted by Carol Oukrop, and photocopies of newspaper articles about Davis, as well as "A Diplomat in Black" written by Davis in 1929 for the Kansas State Collegian and "Negro America's First Daily" by Davis for Negro Digest. There is a photocopy of chapter 13 of Livin' the Blues with annotations, as well as fliers for Livin' the Blues and Black Moods.

Also included are photocopies of the following articles, many with annotations by Tidwell: "Frank Marshall Davis - A Diplomat in Black" and "'Diplomat' Discovered in Hawaii" by Dr. Carol Oukrop; "Louis Edwin Fry, Sr.: His life and his architecture"; and several journal articles about African American journalism and its function in the media.
