This file contains photocopied materials relating to poet, author, and playwright Langston Hughes (1901-1967) collated by Tidwell from the Claude Barnett papers at the Chicago Historical Society. Many photocopies have annotations by Tidwell. The file includes correspondence between Hughes and Barnett about poetry and personal affairs; correspondence between Barnett and Pan-American Airways about discrimination and segregation; correspondence between Barnett and the editor of of Hughes's autobiography; letter from Nelson Rockefeller to Hughes; reviews of Not Without Laughter (1930) and Montage of a Dream Deferred (1951); and photocopies of Associated Negro Press articles about Hughes as well as poems by Hughes.
