Scope and Contents

This series consists of materials related to Kenneth Lee Irby [KLI]'s teaching, both at the University of Kansas and at other institutions including Tufts University, Naropa University, Bard College, and the University of Copenhagen. The series contains lecture notes, class handouts, heavily annotated notes and volumes referenced in his teaching, correspondence, copies of KLI's curriculum vitae and teaching statements, and departmental records.

Topics KLI taught range widely and include Greek plays; Shakespeare; surveys of American literature; and 19th and 20th century American authors including Walt Whitman, Herman Melville, Jack Kerouac, and Allen Ginsberg. KLI also taught poetry writing and classes on other specific authors and timeframes.
