Prints and negatives located at MS 354

 Sub-Series
Call Number: MS 354

Scope and Contents

Many of the photographs in this series were taken by Irby himself and include negatives, except for the photographs taken before the 1950s. Irby studied photography in high school. There are many photographs of the Fort Scott, Kansas high school and students. Subjects also include travel with friends and family, landscapes and trees, friends, family, exhibits, poetry, or artistic events.

Titles in quotations are Irby's descriptive inscriptions taken from the photograph envelope. Descriptions not in quotations have been inferred by processing staff.

See also the "Correspondence" series. Photographs accompanying correspondence from associates were kept in place with the correspondence in the "Correspondence" series.

Arrangement

Photographic prints and negatives have been arranged chronologically by year. Dates are based either on Irby's inscriptions or by estimation.

Many of the photographs were in the original envelopes from the photographic developer with descriptive inscriptions from Irby. In these instances, the photographs were kept grouped together with the envelope in the folders.
