The files relating to each title generally include preparatory materials, such as outlines, planning notes, and character descriptions; research and reference materials, such as newspaper and magazine clippings, journal articles, and scientific reports; manuscripts; proofs; critiques and correspondence from other writers and writers' groups, including the Sycamore Hill Writers' Conference; and marked-up manuscripts. The names of those authors providing feedback to Kessel have been listed in the description of each relevant file. In some cases, it was not possible to discern the identity of specific critics.
