Dundas widow, 1798 - 1801
Scope and Contents
11 letters total, 9 of which are from Mrs. E. Dundas of Southgate, the recent widow of a Captain in the India Company, to David Scott, Harley Street, recounting her sad financial circumstances, thanking him for his loans, begging not to be sent to India. Letters are dated February 20, May 14, and May 18, 1798; March 24, 1799; [?] April and April 20, 1800; May 7 and May [?], 1800; and an undated letter.
Also in the folder are a letter from her daughter, Miss Elizabeth Dundas to Scott, asking for money, dated May 10, 1800; and a letter from her only son, Thomas, to Scott at East India House, agreeing to go to Woolwich Academy and dated March 1801. Many of the letters are addressed from Southgate. Included is a blue cardboard cover with white tape; recto O 1805; verso Rt. Hon. Geo. Rose.
