Probate Court, 1855 - 1982
Scope and Contents
Probate Court records for Douglas County were kept separately from District Court records until 1977, when the Probate Court merged with the District Court. The probate court had jurisdiction over estates, wills, adoptions, sanity hearings, delinquent and dependent children hearings, marriages, and town incorporations.
This record group comprises records originating in the Probate Court prior to its incorporation with the District Court. Record types include appearance dockets, case files, final accounts, journals, marriage records, naturalization records, will records, and other assorted documents.
