Written from Keswick [England], 2 pages (1 sheet) with address and postmark, to Mrs. Brooks care of C.P. Curtis Esq., Boston, New England. Friendly letter from Southey praising Brooks' poem "Zophiel," mentioning her previous visit to Keswick, giving family news, etc. "I have not been reading criticism...I have not written any poetry--too busy with Naval History and Biography...I shall be glad...if the Americans show us that a poetess may be honoured in her own country."
