The Mechanical Sky is a two-part series by Moffitt, originally conceived as a single novel. Both novels were published by Del Rey: the first, titled Crescent in the Sky, in 1989 and the second, titled A Gathering of Stars, in 1990. The working title for the series was "The Allah Mode."
