On parchment, single leaf, docketed faintly. Marlborough's seal, applied through paper, corners of paper turned over. Prepared by Adam Cardonnel, the Duke's secretary. Signed "Marlborough." Added: "Enter'd with the Commissary Genl of the Must's G. Marshall."

Commission issued by the Duke of Marlborough (as Captain-General of H.M. Land Forces) appointing Thomas Farrington Captain of the late Talbot Young's company in the regiment commanded by Brigadier Thomas Farrington [i.e. the 29th [Regiment of] Foot, presently the senior battalion of the Worcestershire Regiment]. Meerlebeck Camp [Merelbeke near Ghent]. Issued a week after the 29th Foot won honors in the Battle of Ramillies.
