Lawrence (Kansas) Gun Club, 1938 - 1946
Scope and Contents
In 1940 with the help of a few friends, Dick Williams purchased, renovated, and operated the Lawrence Gun Club, formerly called the Legion Gun Club, located west of Lawrence on Highway 40. Williams personally encouraged hundreds of trap shooters in the Kansas area to attend trap shoots in Lawrence. He was in charge of purchasing ammunition, which was hard to come by during the wartime era, score-keeping, and all facets of the business.
The series charts the development and continued success of the gun club, as well as events such as state and regional tournaments. The series includes some material from when it was still the Legion Gun Club. The materials are arranged in alphabetical files for each year.
