Scope and Contents
Records from Works Progress Administration (WPA) projects conducted with the Lawrence City Water Department in the 1930s. Projects expanded the city's water main system and built additional storage tanks. Materials include financial records, including payroll, bills, bids, price estimates, and purchase orders; correspondence, mostly beteween Water Department employee C.T. Hough and various state and federal agencies responsible for the dispersal of Federal Emergency Relief Funds and and funds for Public Works Projects; and federal guidelines and city and state specifications for bidding processes and construction of projects in Lawrence. There are also a few maps and blueprints with the materials.
