Describes his visit to the southern, disturbed areas of the territory (including Linn and Bourbon Counties), stating that Lane and his followers started with driving out pro-slavery men and then expanded to drive out anyone who did not agree with them, terrorizing the area and leading to further outrages. Also describes James Montgomery attempting to set fire to Fort Scott. Folder includes envelope.
