Glass plates, circa 1892-1917; many undated
Dates
- Creation: circa 1892-1917; many undated
Extent
41 Linear Feet (136 boxes containing approximately 4,000 negatives and transparencies)
Arrangement
When the Culver collection was acquired and originally processed, the glass plate negatives were roughly sorted by Kansas subjects (A), portraits (B), and subjects in other states/miscellaneous images (C). However, due to the size of this collection, some negatives may be found in what appears to be the incorrect series of images--images from New York or Ohio appearing as part of the Kansas subjects, for example, or portraits appearing with subjects from other states. At the same time, some images that are similar to each other may be found scattered throughout the collection, rather than grouped together physically as expected. Researchers may wish to review the entire finding aid to determine which images they are interested in viewing.
