Scope and Contents

This series contains personal diaries detailing Clark's daily life from 1987 to 2022. The diaries include such topics as Clark's work at the Tyrrell Historical Library and as the University Archivist at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas; various personal and professional research projects and papers; exhibits and events organized by Clark; work with patrons and donors; work with the Big Thicket Association; collection policies and best archival practices; and Clark's association with various historical and archival societies in Texas and the Southwest. These particularly include the Society of Southwest Archivists (SSA), as well as the national organization of the Society of American Archivists (SAA).

The diaries also include details about Clark's personal life and interactions with personal and professional associates; living through Hurricane Rita; homeowning; psychic readings; grieving the loss of family members; trips and vacations; and other various life events.

Many of the details provided about most of the diaries come directly from the donor and creator, Penny Clark.

Conditions Governing Access

Personal diaries are restricted until August 2033.
