Correspondence: Arthur Moore and his agents in France, 1712 - 1713
Scope and Contents
Concerns possibility of supplying enslaved persons to Compagnie de S. Domingo in S. Christopher (St. Kitts, W.I.), and general political news from Spain and France. The correspondence from Adrian Drift (employee of Prior; considers "the Board" [of Trade] his master) has little important to say, acting largely as an accommodation address for Doudall, Cantillon, Prior, Bolingbroke. Moore asks him for maps, French tariffs and farms, French government regulations and revenues for Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, and complains that Gilligan's absence causes SS Co to delay fitting out their ships. Most Drift letters are blotted with gilt sand.
