This series mostly contains Technical Reports (TR) and Technical Memoranda (TM) about various Remote Sensing Laboratory (RSL) research projects. Each report/memorandum has a unique numerical identifier formatted as ####-#, where the numbers before the dash signify the topic area or project and the numbers after the dash signify the specific document. In general, the documents are sorted chronologically (which means, for example, that a document labelled "####-1" will usually predate one labelled "####-2"), but this rule may not be universally applicable.

The documents mostly date from the late 1970s to the early 1990s, but there may be outliers. Some documents are marked as TR or TM, but this recordkeeping was not apparently maintained consistently.
